January 2018 Newsletter

Hi LSClubbers

Belated compliments of the season to you and yours. I trust you’ve all recovered from  your festive festivities and are getting back to the grindstone of work and slog.

Here’s wishing 2018 is a great year for all of us!

ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET……   GO!

We’re getting the year off to a fast start, kicking off not one, not two, but THREE tournaments:-

  1. Our Annual Tennis Club Championships (which we had planned to run in Nov/Dec 2017, but had to postpone due to the resurfacing project for our Lower Tennis court)
  2. Our Annual Summer League Social Squash Tournament
  3. Our club’s inaugural Squash Doubles Club Championships.

I will be sending out separate mails for each of these tournaments shortly, providing more detail, and inviting entries. So watch out for those, and get your entries in quick.

A few other quickies in terms of housekeeping, and other happenings in the life of our club:-

1.  WELCOME:

A very warm welcome to our new members who have joined LSC since early December (when I sent out my last newsletter). For those who I haven't had the opportunity to meet yet, I look forward to meeting you soon.

On behalf of the LSC Committee, thank you for joining, and we hope you thoroughly enjoy being a member of our proud and festive club, this year and for many years to come.

Please feel free to contact me at any time should you want to discuss any matter pertaining to the club and your membership.

2.  SOCIAL TENNIS:

For new members not in-the-know, Eric Putsman runs mixed socials every Sunday morning from 10am-12pm (weather permitting). If you’re keen to get involved, you can contact Eric on 083 777 5206.

For tennis lessons/coaching, please contact Gareth Smart on Gareth.tenniscoach@gmail.com or 071 675 9563.

3.. LEAGUE TENNIS:

The 2018 Men’s and Ladies WP Tennis League season kicks off later this month with the Mixed League. Thanks again to Tracy Morris and Llewellyn Snyman for agreeing to be our Ladies and Men’s Tennis Captains for another season. Much appreciated.

If you’re new to our club, and would like to find out more about playing League Tennis, then please contact Tracy (tracyloumorris@gmail.com) or Llewellyn (Llewellyn.Snyman@engenoil.com).

Also, we are aware that the device to lower/raise the net on the Lower Tennis Court is broken. Llewellyn is arranging for PlastoTop to repair it this coming week.

4.  MEMBERSHIP FEES:

For those members who have not yet paid their annual subs (they were due in Sept 2014!), your access key tags will be disabled this month. Please make contact with Sheena (sheenastephens@iafrica.com) urgently to make payment. Once done, Sheena will give instruction to Paul Herrmann to reactive your key tag.

5.  ACCESS KEY TAGS:

Should you lose/misplace your access key tag and need to purchase a replacement tag, the procedure is to first do an EFT into the  club’s account for R150, and then take that proof of payment to Abi at the Seeff Properties office in the Mainstream Shopping Centre, and she will issue you a replacement tag. Please note that Seeff Properties is kindly providing a free service to our club for this, so please be respectful and appreciative of that.

That’s it from me. Look out for my follow-up mails inviting entries into our Tennis Club Champs, Summer League Social Squash tournament, and Squash Doubles Club Champs.

Cheers

Rob
