January 2015 Newsletter

Hi LSClubbers

Belated compliments of the season to you and yours. I trust you’ve all recovered from  your festive festivities and are getting back to the grindstone of work and slog. Here’s wishing 2015 is a great year for all of us!

I’ll start the year of gently, in terms of Newsletter content.  Just a few quickies in terms of housekeeping, and keeping you abreast of some happenings in the life of our club in January and February.

Firstly, a very warm welcome to our new members who have joined LSC since early December (when I sent out my last newsletter). For those who I haven't had the opportunity to meet yet, I look forward to meeting you soon.

On behalf of the LSC Committee, thank you for joining, and we hope you thoroughly enjoy being a member of our proud and festive club, this year and for many years to come.

Please feel free to contact me at any time should you want to discuss any matter pertaining to the club and your membership.

For new members not in-the-know, Eric Putsman runs mixed socials every Sunday morning from 10am-12pm (weather permitting). If you’re keen to get involved, you can contact Eric on 083 777 5206.

For tennis lessons/coaching, please contact Michelle Dutton on or 082 497 7540.

The 2015 Mens and Ladies WP Tennis League season kicks off later this month with the Mixed League. Thanks again to Michelle Dutton and Bob Groeneveld for agreeing to be our Ladies and Mens Tennis Captains for another season. Much appreciated.

Our  “Summer League” social squash tournament will kick-off during the week of 2nd February, and will run for 5  weeks, up to when the WP Squash league season commences in March.

For new members not in-the-know, this is an annual internal social squash league we run, which is open to all members, and where the onus is on having a fun, getting back into shape after the festive season, and socializing with other members.

I will be sending another mail out immediately after this one inviting entries for the Summer League.

For those members who have not yet paid their annual subs (they were due in Sept 2014!), you will find that your access key tag has been disabled. Please make contact with Sheena ( urgently to make payment. Once done, Sheena will give instruction to Paul Herrmann to reactive your key tag.

Should you lose/misplace your access key tag and need to purchase a replacement tag, the procedure is to first do an EFT into the  club’s account for R150, and then take that proof of payment to Chenay at the Seeff Properties office in the Mainstream Shopping Centre, and she will issue you a replacement tag. Please note that Seeff Properties is kindly providing a free service to our club for this, so please be respectful and appreciative of that.

We have also recently detected that some of the keytags from the first batch of 200 on our new access control system have not been accounted for. They’ve either been stolen, or were issued out but not captured on our system. Paul Herrmann has disabled these on our system, so if you arrive at the courts and find out that your tag is no longer working, please contact Paul first on 073 195 1505 or, before going to Seeff Properties to try and swap it out. Paul will verify that you are a fully paid up member first, and then reactivate your tag for you.

I had mentioned in my December Newsletter that we would kick-off our social calendar for the year with a Doubles Evening and social braai at the clubhouse on Thursday 22nd January. I received quite a few responses from members saying that this week would be too chaotic with school starting, so we’ve shelved that idea, and will rather be having another of our fabulous sunset cruise and braai onboard the Nauticat. This is scheduled for Friday 13th February. I will send another mail out immediately after this one with further details.

That’s it from me. Looking forward to seeing you on the courts and/or the Nauticat soon.
